In the school garden

June9

We had a great time today in the school garden looking at what plants need to grow. We also spent time looking at the types of fruit and vegetables we grow in the school garden and had a try of some of the things we found.
I wonder which part you enjoyed the most?IMG_2338

Pirate Names

June8

Next week we will start learning about information texts in literacy. We will be writing our own information books and fact files about pirates. I was thinking about what I would like to be called if I was a pirate. I did a bit of research online and looked at some examples of pirate names. They aren’t very flattering.

‘Black Kat Claws’ is the best I could come up with. I thought it made me sound fearsome.

What pirate name would you give yourself? I bet you can do way better than me!

Can you think of a name for our class that will follow you up into Year 3? It can be an animal, bird, famous person or anything else you think fits our class. Comment below with your idea and why you think it would be good for our class?

Our Challenge Post

February8

Come on 2KS lets win this challenge. I would love Mr White to treat me to a double cheeseburger! I’m sure you would love a trip to McDonalds too. So here goes. Get blogging and remember to check your writing for full stops and capital letters.

Thank you to Jasmine for helping to come up with the topic for our blog.

If you could spend the day with the Gruffalo what would you do? Where would you take him? What might you ask him?

Comment below. I can’t wait to read all the exciting things you would do. Here’s mine:

If I could spend the day with the Gruffalo I would take him to Castle Park rugby stadium in Doncaster to watch Doncaster Knights. I’m sure the Gruffalo would enjoy watching rugby. In fact I think he would make a fantastic rugby player. He is tall enough and wide enough. I would treat him to pie, chips and gravy at half time. The pie at the rugby is ammmmazing! I think I would ask the Gruffalo what his favourite sport is.

How tall is the Gruffalo? (Maths Investigation)

January5

IMG_1877 IMG_1879 IMG_1882 IMG_1885 IMG_1880

Today we started our new topic…THE GRUFFALO! We watched the DVD then the office delivered us a strange letter. Jasmine carefully opened it. It was from the Gruffalo. He wants to visit us but he needed to know if he could fit through our classroom door. He sent us one of his footprints.

We figured out that we were about 7 times the length of our feet tall. So we measured the Gruffalo’s footprint and x’d it by 7. Miss Stirland used two tape measures to show us how tall the Gruffalo is. We quickly realised he will not fit through our classroom door 🙁

We are going to write back to the Gruffalo on Friday 🙂

Remembrance Day

October22

In our literacy lessons we have been looking at non-fiction writing. We learnt all about why we wear poppies (some of us thought they were for Children in Need). We read a book called ‘Where the poppies grow’. It was a great book that told us all about the war. We then wrote our own information page about Remembrance Day.

Here are some of our information pages
